The wild weather is far from over for south-east Queensland and northern NSW, with residents warned to brace for more heavy rain, prompting fears of significant flooding.
Intense rain, thunderstorms and large hail lashed parts of Australia’s east coast on Monday caused by a massive storm front stretching 500km across the south-east.
The region is set to receive another drenching on Tuesday, with the Bureau of Meteorology warning the forecast is ‘dangerous’ for residents.
‘This situation continues to be dangerous and dynamic,’ Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said.
The heavy and widespread rainfall is set to continue from Gympie to the NSW border, prompting fears of ‘life-threatening flash flooding’.

Up to 200 millimetres of rain in as little as three hours is forecast for the region, with localised intense rainfall possibly topping daily totals of 350millimetres.
Springbrook in the Gold Coast hinterland was hit with rainfall as high as 500mm in the 24 hours to 9pm on Monday.
The Bureau of Meteorology also warned the storms were ‘hit-and-miss’, making them hard to predict.
A severe weather warning remains in place for Queensland’s south east coast, including Burnett, Wide Bay, Australian News Today Brisbane and the Gold Coast hinterland.
Authorities have issued flood watches for most of the region’s major rivers, with residents urged to stay off the roads and avoid low-lying areas.

Seqwater cautioned residents downstream of Nindooinbah Dam, west of the Gold Coast, and Leslie Harrison Dam, in Brisbane’s south-east, to avoid fast flowing or deep water near flood plains and waterways after the dams started spilling excess water due to heavy rain late on Monday.
It comes as terrifying footage emerged of a driver sitting on the top of their Kia surrounded by raging floodwaters.
